"You're like my own little housewife..."

"You're like my own little housewife..." That's what Blain told me when he came home last night and saw me sewing away! I learned how to make curtains from my Bubba yesterday and I had so much fun doing so!
My Bubba and Granddad were here just before 10 am. While GD and Madison went for a walk and out to the park; Emily, Bubba and I went over to Wal-Mart and got the fabric and curtain rods (the rods we got were $1.50 each...what a deal!).

The next 3 hours were filled with fabric, thread, ironing and the sound of the sewing machine just going and going and going. The whole process was much easier than I thought and Bubba was a great teacher! She walked me through Madison's curtains and after they left, I made Emily's. They look great in the rooms and I am filled with such pride and accomplishment for not only finishing something, but for making them myself!

Ahh, what a day!

Nana and Papa

Great Weekend! Mom and Dad came and spent two days with us! Despite the poor weather, we had a great visit and of course the girls loved spending time with them! On Saturday, we all went out to eat at a very yummy Mexican resturant. When we got back, the girls took a nap while my mom and I went and window shopped at a nearby store! Later, we had dinner, Baskin Robbins and watched a movie. Sunday morning we had a great breakfast and then it was just hanging out until it was time to go! Love you guys!

First taste of Rice Cereal!

This weekend was the start of a new adventure for us! Emily started eating rice cereal! Or should I say, she started spitting out rice cereal! We have noticed that bottles aren't sustaining her...she wants a bottle almost every two hours. So, although I wanted to wait until she was sitting up on her own, Blain went to the Commissary and picked her up a box and we gave it a try. Short version...she didn't like it but managed to keep a few drops down! We are going to try it once every couple days until she gets used to it and then start giving it more often as well as introducing some fruits and veggies. I'm not too keen on the baby food stage of growth (I enjoy the bottle stage and the feeding-themselves-stage) but am looking forward to finding the foods she likes! The pictures below is pretty much how the first taste went down!ABOVE: Getting ready...not much of an expression!
BELOW: She did great opening her mouth to the spoon and closing her lips around it! Which lets me know she's ready!

ABOVE: "Uh...do I like this?"
BELOW: "NO! I don't like it!" She gave me this look that said "Mom, what IS this?"

ABOVE: She slowly let it drip out of her mouth while staring off into space! It was quiet an eventful evening!

Rainy Day Fun!!!

Well, so much for the perfect weather! This is day two of nothing but RAIN! I tend to go alittle crazy when I'm stuck in the house! So today, we broke out the craft box and started cutting! Madison got to color with markers which is a big deal as she doesn't very often get to use them. But we had a great time and it helped the morning go by quicker (we usually spend most of the morning at the park). I just hope the rain doesn't last too much longer, I'm not creative enough to come up with new games and crafts each day!
Pretty girls!
Emily seemed to like hers too!

Madison hasn't taken it off since I made it!

Friday, Jan. 16th

Friday, January 16th was an historic day...Emily's first tooth broke through! She woke up in the am and there it was, super sharp and already bugging her! She loves to stick her whole hand in her mouth and chomp, little did she know that she would stab herself with her new tooth! The first time she chomped down, she cried, but quickly learned to chew on the side!
Also on Friday...Madison got 5 big garbage bags full of hand-me-down clothes! We spent some time going through them, sorting what she liked and what I liked! We filled two big bins with size 4T and 5T (to be worn later), and a small box with stuff she can wear now and we took 1 big box and 2 garbage bags to Good Will! Needless to say, she is set for awhile!

We had a great visit with my Grandparents, Uncle and Cousin Friday morning...Thank you guys so much for coming over! And Blain was even home by one in the afternoon!!!
